The works and words of Nader Khalili

Making of a dream is about convenient truths regarding environmentally friendly, self-help, solutions for sustainable housing, deforestation, the world's 1,000,000,000 homeless/shanty town dwellers, disaster resistance, habitat for the moon and Mars, all inspired and integrated with the mystic poetry and stories of RUMI. The documentary covers the works and words of world renowned architect and humanitarian, Nader Khalili.

"My quests became more meaningful when my goals met with others' needs and goals", says world-renowned visionary architect Nader Khalili, as he weaves together a golden tapestry of designs, materials and ideas, the universal elements of earth, water air and fire, their equilibrium and unity, timeless earth architecture, and Rumi's mystic poetry and parables, that have guided him through his journey of the last three decades in creating a sustainable solution to human shelter.

Turning the materials of war, sandbags and barbed wire, into the building blocks of peace, he has developed the Superadobe technology, which addresses the most pressing issues facing our planet today such as global warming, deforestation, and the over one billion homeless and refugees, victims of natural disasters and war. The resulting beautiful, sustainable earth homes demonstrate that humanity can live sustainably in harmony with nature.

His Superadobe and Ceramic Houses construction technologies have been published by NASA for futuristic lunar and Martian colonies, and awarded by the United Nations and the Aga Khan award for architecture for shelter for refugees and homeless.

In "Making of a Dream" Khalili powerfully answers his own question, "Is it really sane to follow one's own ideals and dreams and race alone in today's world?", to an audience seated in the beautiful simplicity of his "Rumi dome." And the answer is still a "celebrated Yes." Yes, to the environmental revolution Yes, to global healing.
